Happy New Year everyone!

It's so hard to believe that it is 2010...life flies by so quickly.  Well, the last month has been so busy for me.  I moved to a new apartment, and went away for a few weeks to see both me and my husbands families.  During that time I finally photographed someone, my first subject!  Self portraits are fun, but I was anxious to begin photographing people!  My gorgeous sister in law is around 8 months pregnant, so I took some pictures of her.  I took these photos at my moms house.  She had a lot of fabric and screens and wonderful furniture for me to make backgrounds with!  She and I worked together for the wardrobe styling for these shots.  My mom is so creative, the clothing and accessories in this shoot are Christmas gifts from her.  Her house is a dreamland for anyone who loves vintage and antiques, it's magical!
I'll be putting more of the photos from this shoot on my flikr account later tonight.

I have 3 weeks left to get my portfolio in for SVA.  I have no idea if I will get into the school or not, and if I don't, I guess I will figure out a new plan, a different school or something.  But, I'll be working hard this month to get my portfolio done in time.

How has everyone been?
xoxo,
Shae

I do hope you'll enjoy these beautiful portraits I discovered via this post on one of my daily reads, Creature Comforts. I honestly can't decide what I love most about them... is it the ghostly, faery-esque styling, reminiscent of a scene from Sleeping Beauty, or the fantasy location filled with luscious ...

congrats on your first non-self portrait.
if this is any indication of what's in store, then i can't wait.

These are so beautiful and so is your sister in law. She looks so angelic. Your mom's house seems like such a fun place for vintage shoots:)

I wish you so much luck in getting into that school. I am sure you'll be accepted. You seem very eager and like you learn quickly. If they can't see you've got a very artistic eye then, they are fools.

Can't wait to see what comes next.

Shae: This is truly stunning. Your sister-in-law has a face that is evocative of the Middle Ages (in a good way). Truly spectacular photos.

She's beautiful, she looks like a brunette version of Elizabeth Siiddal :

Your photos are so inspiring. I stumbled upon your blog about a month ago, and I love checking up to see if you've shot anything new. I can't wait to see what your creativity unfolds in the year to come.

I'm so excited for you and know you'll get into that school without a prob. Your pics have been nothing but impressive so far. This latest set is no exception. What a beautiful gal. And I agree with the photodiarist. She has that unique beauty of times past!

So glad that '09 is over and soooo excited about '10!

And another thing! If you still have leftover stock, you should list it on Etsy! So much better to work with than EBay these days....

hi shae!
i just wanted to let you know i think your first shoot with someone else turned out brilliant! the mood, the styling and aesthetics are very focused and evoke a lot of mystery and ambience. i'm admiring your coherent travel thru these romanticized settings, self-portraiture and now, with subjects.
i think you'rer lighting is really gorgeous on the first two on the bed- you've managed to go pretty bright all over and still get a soft focus- an interesting combination that feels very airy and feminine.

my cousin (your friend leigh) is always telling me how much i remind her of you or vice versa- and i'm starting to understand why! i went to art school for photo and then eventually opened a vintage store on eBay. it's like the same as you but swip-swapped ;) though i can only hope i reach the success you've had with lullie and your blog! thanks for being an inspiration and if you ever wanna talk artsy photo-tech just drop me a line!

amanda

It is so beautiful and so sweet to photograph your sister in law. She's so beautiful and she looks so natural in the photos. Ohhh I do love her arm tattoo as well.
