BABY BRITAIN

(Vintage Blouse, Vintage Jacket, Vintage shorts, Vintage Hat, AA Polka Dot socks, Shoes (?), Vintage belt)

Hello dolls!
How have you all been?  I have been doing great.  I am going back to Nyc today.  It has been so nice being here, I love visiting my folks who live 60 miles outside of Nyc!  They have a house full of antiques, vintage and space to shoot in.  In Nyc, my husband and I live in the TINIEST apartment ever, so I am definitely going to have to travel for location shooting.  I am not even sure how to get indoor shots in the city, I am going to have to get creative and be gutsy and ask people if I can shoot in their place. :/  How do you photographers out there get people to let you shoot at their location, like a cool lobby in a hotel or a restaurant?  Are places like that pretty nice about letting students shoot or do they have to get paid to say yes? ;)

I've been trying to take a ton of photos to figure out all that I have been reading about in books about lighting etc...and I am really trying to make each shoot different from the next.  I don't know what my style is going to end up being, or if it will always be changing...but I am just trying to be open at the minute.

Well, I am going to go pack up and say goodbye to my mom. Hope you guys are doing great.

xoxo,
Shae

this lighting makes your skin look so very doll-like.
super cute poses, especially the last one.
very clean look and you, of course, look gorgeous!!
who cares if you don't shoot any models for now?
you're a brilliant self portrait artist.

Sylvia,

Thank you so much! You are always so sweet to comment :) I love it!
Yah, this one is clean. I wanted to try a different kind of shot than all of my others. Most of the other ones have been either dark and moody or cluttered with vintage backgrounds and had filters on the lights. This one is simple.
Actually, simple is harder to light for me, apparently. The lighting does make the skin doll-like! I wish I could walk around with those lights on me all day ;P I love that creamy look.
Well, Sylvia, you are always so kind to take the time to leave a comment, I truly appreciate it!

I think your photos always look great, but these new ones are SO fantastic! I've enjoyed all the vignettes you've set up, I guess those are at your parents' house - lucky you! I also just moved to a small apartment in Brooklyn...but made sure to get something with enough length to set up my studio for photo shoots...but, like you, I also want to get outside for shoots! Why don't you post a casting on ModelMayhem for a TF* shoot - you'll get some models that way. I'm itching to do some shooting, but have to get a little more unpacked and settled yet!

Re:Wowww! i didn't know that the store has since closed down already and so much has happened in your life. So sorry to hear about the passing of your dog . It must have been hard.

But I'm here if you ever need a listening ear ! That's really so cool that you're into photography now. So interesting and you do really have amazing photos and style still !

Do you take your own photos ?!

I know it's scary! I actually don't think I've ever asked people to shoot in a building probably because I'm not gutsy enough and I hate drawing a crowd. I just stick to abandoned buildings and low traffic spots!

Hello!

Well you've definately got such a natural way with your photographs - they are lovely and warm to look at!

In my experience people love being asked if their pad could be used in photos, sets etc. I recently went to a Dinosaur Park to do some set up shots - the guys there were only too happy to have me there, I said I would give them a mention on the site etc - they were happy with that!

I guess you would be helping them out too! There is always a "buzz" around when there's a photographer about.

Just go for it! People will be coming to you....

Did you set the timer for these? Never experimented with that!

These photos are fantastic! What a great job! I am moving back to the city myself. Ive been in Arizona for the last year, where there is LOTS of natural light to work with. Now the winter is coming and I will have to figure out the whole lighting thing. Anyway, just ranting - these are amazing photos. Great work!
